Early App Inventor struggles

A transparent look at insufficient tutorials, and Jared gaining superpowers when he gets mad at himself.

The "Hello Codi" Roadblock

In designing my first app, I followed thel App Inventor tutorial titled "Hello Codi." It is the most basic app in the world: picture of bee make buzz. I adapted it to make a picture of bowling pins emit a "strike" sound. The image did not show on the interface when imported.

<---What did not work

Sound without the visual

That is what my interface was supposed to look like. I was unable to test the sound for the strike when I was making the app. I clicked "sound 1" and the audio file but neither made the noise. This one might be on me, since I am still new and need to click around some more. Perhaps a YouTube tutorial will help. What I was able to do is posted below. I changed some colors because I wanted to and Go Noles.

Making Room for Failure

Simply accepting failure is not enough. To truly learn, one must actively design an environment with built-in room for failure. Building that safety buffer provides the mental space to test varied strategies without missing class or career deadlines. Hopefully I can assist someone in the future with similar problems as I continue refining this project (and get Webador to stop cropping my images).
